Social Inclusion

HLC's mission is to respond to social needs through action and fulfill responsibility with sustainability as our foundation. We continuously promote diverse social welfare projects focused on three main themes: rural education support, vulnerable group care, and traffic safety advocacy. From 2022 to 2024, through collaborations with public and private sectors and non-profit organizations, we have channeled resources to areas in need, thereby fulfilling our corporate social responsibility.

2022–2024 Social Welfare Highlights

2022 - Laying the Foundation for Education and Initiating Care

Art education on the road

We sponsored the "Theater Arts Experience Education Program - Bringing Scripts into Schools" by the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) by providing mobile resources for two years to help expand the program's service scope. This initiative brings performing arts out of the city and into rural communities, to give students in rural schools the chance to experience the magic of script reading and physical performance. In the 2022 academic year, 15 schools participated, including four rural schools.

Volunteer participation

A cumulative total of 482 volunteers participated in beach cleanup activities nationwide, for a cumulative total of 1,928 service hours, demonstrating our employees' active involvement in environmental welfare.

 2023 - Expanding Impact and Cross-Field Care

Health education expansion

In the first half of 2023, HLC partnered with the Taiwan Health Foundation to promote the "Good Health Academy," a program that won both the 2022 "Taiwan Sustainable Action Award" and "Asia-Pacific Sustainable Action Award" bronze medals. The program expanded from Taipei's urban area to rural schools in New Taipei City and used innovative interactive courses to guide students in establishing correct health concepts. The initiative was recognized by the New Taipei City Education Department. A total of ten sessions were offered, which benefited nearly 250 students, with a project cost of NT$500,000.

Due to the enthusiastic response, with the guidance and support of the education departments of Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung cities, HLC once again provided passionate support in the second half of 2023. The sponsored sessions were extended to schools in these cities, and we also offer a shuttle service for Fu Shing Elementary School in Keelung City, a school located in a "neither mountainous nor urban" area. This service provides its students with the opportunity to personally visit the Taiwan Health Foundation and experience the Good Health Academy’s activities firsthand. In the second half of the year, nine sessions were offered, benefiting nearly 200 students, with a project cost of NT$400,000.Throughout the year, we sponsored 19 sessions of the Good Health Academy, benefiting nearly 450 schoolchildren, with total activity expenses reaching NT$900,000.

Mental health support

In partnership with Hotai Finance, we donated NT$100,000 to the Teacher Chang Foundation, helping it renovate its online counseling room and install office partitions and energy-saving lights. This improved the quality of psychological counseling services for an average of 120 people per month.

Art resource extension

The Weiwuying’s "Theater Arts Experience Education Program" continued to enhance its cultural and educational impact. In the 2023 academic year, 14 schools participated. For two consecutive years, HLC has provided iRent with mobile resources to support the program's expansion into rural areas.

Expanding volunteer capacity

Throughout the year, 679 individuals participated in beach cleanup activities, accumulating a total of 2,716 volunteer service hours. This demonstrates our sustained commitment to action.

2024 - Reinforcing Implementation and Leveraging Expertise

Renewed focus on educational care

HLC continued its partnership with the Taiwan Health Foundation to expand the "Good Health Academy" program to Hsinchu. A total of eight sessions were offered, serving over 200 students. Additionally, HLC provided shuttle service and travel subsidies to help students from Neiiwan Elementary School's Ten Drum team perform on stage, thus boosting their confidence and broadening their horizons. The total cost for these activities was NT$500,000.

Building a child-friendly environment

In response to New Taipei City's "Family-Like Safe Care Program," Hotai donated home appliances worth nearly NT$190,000, including TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, dehumidifiers, rice cookers, ovens, and kettles, to help create a safe and supportive environment for children.

Enhanced school commute safety

The Company donated 200 sets of traffic volunteer equipment to 15 elementary schools in New Taipei City, a donation valued at nearly NT$120,000. This initiative helps safeguard the daily commute of over 1,500 schoolchildren.

Career education promotion

We invited Jiaxing Elementary School and Taoshan Elementary School from rural Hsinchu to visit one of the HOT Alliance’s repair shops. This hands-on experience allowed them to understand car repair/maintenance operations, to increase their industry knowledge and expand possibilities for future career planning. A total of 51 students and teachers participated in two sessions.

Diverse volunteer development

Starting in 2024, in addition to continuing the annual beach cleanup activities, HLC launched diverse volunteer programs under the philosophy of "Love on the Go, Corporate Sustainability." The goal is to involve the Company and its employees in more environmental and social issues. A cumulative total of 1,049 individuals were mobilized, with an average of 5.08 volunteer hours per person for a cumulative total of 4,320 hours. This effort has galvanized collective action and maximized the Company's positive influence.

In the future, HLC will continue to take "Education as the Root, Health as the Foundation, and Safety as the Shield" as its core public welfare path, with a focus on three main themes: rural education support, vulnerable group care, and traffic safety advocacy. Through professional integration and partnerships, we aim to exert long-term, positive, and tangible influence, striving to achieve a more resilient and inclusive sustainable society. Simultaneously, our public welfare focus will gradually expand into the environmental sector, and strengthen our resource investment in ecological conservation. In 2025, we plan to launch a public welfare donation project to support the Taiwan Environmental Protection Union's efforts in promoting wetland conservation work in the Erren River wetland in Tainan. This includes the removal of invasive plant species and a slope construction project at the Xinzhuang Wenzidi Wetland Park and habitat maintenance at the Erren River Wetland in Tainan. These actions showcase the Company's commitment and efforts toward environmental sustainability.
